Hamyang County Temporarily Suspends 'OreuGO Hamyang' Forest Fire Prevention Program
Disaster Situation Declared in Gyeongnam Province
Operation Suspended to Prevent Wildfires and
Ensure Safe Hiking
Hamyang County announced on the 26th that, considering the severity of large-scale wildfires that have recently occurred simultaneously across the country, including the Jirisan area in Sancheong, the operation of "Oreugo Hamyang" will be temporarily suspended for one month from April 1 to 30.
This measure is in response to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety issuing the highest level "Severe" wildfire disaster alert and the declaration of a disaster situation in the Gyeongnam region. The suspension was decided with the highest priority placed on strengthening wildfire prevention and management and ensuring the safety of participants.
Accordingly, the county will operate a guidance (promotion) period until March 31, and from April 1 for one month, all 15 mountain sections included in "Oreugo Hamyang" will be closed to entry, and mobile app authentication will also be restricted.
A county official stated, "Due to the dry weather and strong winds, wildfires can quickly spread to neighboring municipalities, and to prevent such disasters, we have inevitably decided to temporarily suspend the operation of 'Oreugo Hamyang.' We kindly ask for your understanding and cooperation with this measure, and urge all participants to temporarily pause your challenges for your safety and the protection of our forests."
