Russia, US, and Ukraine Marathon Talks on Ceasefire Proposal... "Constructive Dialogue"
"Dialogue to Continue with Participation of the United Nations and International Community"
Russia announced on the 25th (local time) that it had a useful dialogue with the United States regarding the Ukraine issue.
Grigory Karasin, the Russian chief negotiator and chairman of the Federation Council's International Affairs Committee, said to TASS on the same day, "We will continue the dialogue involving the international community, especially the United Nations and certain countries."
He evaluated, "Overall, I got the impression that such constructive dialogue is necessary, and the United States is also interested in it."
Regarding the '12-hour marathon talks' between the United States and Russia held the previous day in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, he said, "The dialogue was detailed and complex but quite useful for both us and the United States," adding, "We discussed many issues."
It is known that Russia and the United States discussed a partial ceasefire in Ukraine and the resumption of the Black Sea grain agreement the day before. A joint statement on the results of the talks is scheduled to be released by the Kremlin and the White House on the same day.
RIA Novosti reported that Chairman Karasin said, "It was a very interesting, difficult, and quite constructive dialogue," and "We sat all day from morning until late at night." He added that although their positions on the Ukraine issue do not always align, there is a consensus that active interaction is necessary, saying, "An opportunity for that has arisen."
