Yeoncheon-gun, Gyeonggi Province, recently announced on the 25th that it conducted health checkups for residents living around the Cheongsan Daejeon General Industrial Complex at the Daejeon 1-ri Village Hall.

View original imageYeoncheon-gun carried out general health examinations, cancer screenings, thyroid function tests, and hazardous substance analyses for adults aged 20 and over who have lived within 500 meters of the boundary of the Cheongsan Daejeon General Industrial Complex site for more than five years.
This health checkup was conducted to assess the impact of environmental hazards caused by facilities such as the SRF heat supply facility and textile companies within the industrial complex on residents' health. Yeoncheon-gun plans to secure evidence for petitioning higher authorities and formulating environmental health policies if significant results are derived.

An official from Yeoncheon-gun stated, “Residents have long lived near the industrial complex and have reported health effects due to environmental hazards, prompting this health survey,” adding, “We will focus our efforts on resolving current issues in connection with environmental pollution investigations.”
