Jung Jin-taek, Former Korea University President, Appointed as DGIST Chairman..."Will Dedicate My Experience to DGIST's Development"
The DGIST (President Lee Geonwoo) Board of Directors held a meeting on the morning of the 25th and appointed Jung Jin-taek (64), former President of Korea University, as the new Chairman of the Board.
Jung, the new Chairman, was first appointed as a DGIST board member in February and has now been elected Chairman through this board resolution. His term will begin immediately upon appointment and run until February 5, 2028.
Jung Jin-taek, the new Chairman, is recognized for his academic expertise and extensive experience in educational administration in the field of engineering. He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Korea University, and his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota in the United States. He later joined the faculty of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Korea University, served as Dean of the Graduate School of Management of Technology, and ultimately as President of Korea University. He has also demonstrated leadership across the education sector as Vice President of the National Academy of Engineering of Korea and as President of the Korean Association of Private University Presidents.
Currently, Jung serves as a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Korea University and is also an outside director and audit committee member at HDC Co., Ltd. In 2021, he received the 'International Leadership Award' from the University of Minnesota, further recognizing his global influence.
Jung stated, "I will dedicate myself to the development of DGIST by leveraging my accumulated experience."
