Siheung-si "Safety Inspection of 170,000 Outdoor Advertisements Using AI and Drone Technology"
Pilot Project to Be Conducted Around Neunggok Station Next Month
Siheung City in Gyeonggi Province is integrating artificial intelligence (AI) and drone technology for the safety inspection of outdoor building advertisements.
On the 25th, Siheung City announced that starting from the 1st of next month, it will conduct a pilot project combining drones and AI in outdoor advertising administration around Neunggok Station.

The city will collaborate with Professor Ryu Jeong-rim's architecture team at Kyungpook National University to demonstrate the feasibility of the project through drone filming along predetermined routes and video analysis.
According to the city, the existing safety inspections of outdoor advertisements required at least five personnel for traffic control, operation of aerial work vehicles, and on-site inspections, limiting inspections to only 4 to 5 locations per day.
To improve the efficiency of safety inspections for approximately 170,000 outdoor advertisements within the jurisdiction, the city decided to integrate drone and AI technology. Through this, it expects to provide scientific grounds for safety judgments of advertisements and efficiently verify safety, aging status, signboard specifications, classification by type, replacement, and permit status through computerized processes, which are difficult to confirm visually. In particular, the city anticipates that this system introduction will significantly reduce manpower and budget.
