Gwangju Seo-gu Recognized as 'Outstanding Institution' in Local Government Active Administration Comprehensive Evaluation
Highly Praised for Initiatives Such as School Shared Parking Lot Operation and Family Care Youth Allowance
Seo-gu, Gwangju City (District Mayor Kim Ikang) announced on the 25th that it has been selected as an Excellent Institution for the third consecutive year in the "2025 Comprehensive Evaluation of Proactive Administration by Local Governments" organized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
This evaluation targeted 243 local governments nationwide and assessed five major categories and 17 indicators, including the establishment of proactive administration plans for 2024, achievements in selecting outstanding public officials, efforts to activate related systems, performance and perception of proactive administration, and the expanded operation of proactive administration and collaboration mileage programs.
Seo-gu received high scores and was recognized for exemplary proactive administration with initiatives such as "School Shared Parking Lot Operation" to resolve parking shortages in the city, "Family Care Youth Allowance Support" that offers hope to young people who have lost their dreams, "Our Neighborhood Healing Park" created together with residents, and the "Good Goods Sharing Center" that brings happiness for just 10,000 won.
Additionally, to encourage interest and participation in proactive administration among its public officials, Seo-gu selected and awarded "Outstanding Proactive Administration Public Officials and Teams" who contributed to improving resident convenience, and expanded the "Proactive Administration Mileage System" to provide various rewards, thereby fostering a culture of proactive administration within the institution.
Kim Ikang, Mayor of Seo-gu, stated, "The efforts of Seo-gu public officials to practice proactive administration for the improvement of residents' quality of life have led to these positive results," and added, "We will continue to consider matters from the residents' perspective and strive to establish a culture of proactive administration in the public sector."
