Dr. Lim Hojun of GIST Appointed as Assistant Professor in Energy Convergence at Myongji University

Dr. Hojoon Lim, a graduate of the Department of Physics and Optical Science at GIST, appointed as an assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry and Energy Convergence at Myongji University.
View original imageGwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST, President Lim Ki-chul) announced on the 25th that Hojoon Lim, a graduate of the Department of Physics and Photon Science, has been appointed as an assistant professor in the School of Chemistry and Energy Convergence at Myongji University as of the 1st of this month.
Dr. Lim obtained his Ph.D. in the field of condensed matter physics under the supervision of Professor Moon Bongjin. Afterward, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) in the United States, conducting research on catalysts and energy materials.
Dr. Lim is an expert in X-ray spectroscopy research utilizing synchrotron accelerators, and has conducted studies to elucidate physical and chemical phenomena occurring at surfaces and interfaces. In particular, he has focused on revealing the correlation between the surface electronic structure of catalytic and semiconductor materials and their chemical reactions.
His main research areas include operando characterization of surfaces and interfaces in catalytic materials, semiconductors, and battery materials. His goal is to elucidate the atomic-level mechanisms of energy conversion and storage processes through real-time surface reaction studies.
Dr. Lim has published more than 20 papers in internationally renowned scientific journals such as Angewandte Chemie and ACS Nano, and has been recognized for his research capabilities by receiving numerous outstanding presentation awards at both international and domestic academic conferences.
Dr. Hojoon Lim stated, "I believe a fundamental understanding of surface and interface science is essential for the development of sustainable future energy technologies," adding, "Through research utilizing synchrotron-based X-ray spectroscopy techniques, I aim to elucidate how next-generation energy materials react at the atomic level and contribute to the development of innovative materials based on these findings."
