A man in his 50s with 21 prior offenses, including drunk driving and driving without a license, was once again caught by the police for driving after drinking alcohol.
On the 24th, the Gyeongju Police Station in Gyeongbuk announced that they had booked Mr. A on charges of habitual drunk driving (violation of the Road Traffic Act) and confiscated his vehicle. Mr. A had multiple prior offenses, including 13 counts of drunk driving and 8 counts of driving without a license, and was caught driving on the 21st with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.083%.

The police explained that according to the revised vehicle confiscation criteria for drunk driving enacted last year, vehicles can be confiscated if the driver is involved in a serious drunk driving fatal accident, causes serious injury in two or more drunk driving incidents within the past five years, or has been caught driving under the influence three or more times within the past five years. Chief Yang Soon-bong of the Gyeongju Police Station stated, "We will respond strictly to habitual drunk driving acts that threaten the safe daily lives of citizens."
