57 Students Evacuated Due to Uiseong Wildfire... Lim Jongshik, Gyeongbuk Superintendent, Says "No Harm to Students or Staff"
On the 23rd, Gyeongbuk Superintendent of Education Lim Jong-sik inspected the situation of schools in the vicinity of the wildfire that broke out in Goesan-ri, Anpyeong-myeon, Uiseong-gun, and visited the on-site command center and evacuation facilities such as Uiseong Indoor Gymnasium to comfort the displaced residents.
Following the issuance of Wildfire Response Level 3, firefighting personnel have been deployed and are currently working to extinguish the fire. As of 1:00 p.m. on the 23rd, there have been no student casualties in Uiseong-gun, but 57 students have evacuated to the Uiseong Gymnasium or relatives' homes.

The Gyeongbuk Office of Education is making every effort to ensure prompt and accurate reporting through coordinated situation management with the Ministry of Education and the local education support office. Since the 22nd, emergency duty has been maintained by the Department of Educational Safety, Uiseong Education Support Office, and schools near the wildfire site to thoroughly manage the situation in real time.
In addition, evacuation facilities such as the Uiseong Student Gymnasium and school auditoriums were quickly opened for displaced residents, and the site of the closed (former) Anpyeong Middle School was provided as a gathering point for fire trucks to actively cooperate in ensuring the safety of local residents. Furthermore, at the local education office level, emergency contact networks were used to notify school administrators of the disaster situation and to ensure swift reporting in case of any damage.
Superintendent Lim Jong-sik stated, "Until the situation is over, we will thoroughly manage the situation in real time to prevent casualties among students and staff and do our best to minimize damage to educational facilities caused by this large-scale wildfire."
