Usan Gorosoe from Ulleungdo is harvested every year from early February to March. The name "Gorosoe" originates from "Gollisu," meaning "beneficial to the bones." It is known to be effective for osteoarthritis, neuralgia, and even gastrointestinal disorders, which is why many people seek Gorosoe sap every year.
Unlike regular Gorosoe, Ulleungdo's native variety is characterized by its higher sugar content and a ginseng-like aroma. It also contains beneficial components such as calcium and potassium, making it recognized as a healthy beverage.
County Governor Nam Hankwon said, "We held this event to widely promote Usan Gorosoe, which is gaining attention as a health food, and to seek new markets," adding, "I hope people across the country will make good use of Usan Gorosoe."
