Jung-gu Daegu to Invest 100 Million Won to Revitalize 'Namsandong Musical Instrument Alley'... 50 Million Won Support for 'Samdeokdong 3-ga Alley'
Jung-gu District of Daegu (District Mayor Ryu Kyuha) announced on the 23rd that two areas, "Namsandong Musical Instrument Store Alley" and "Samdeokdong 3-ga Alley," have been finally selected for the 2025 Alley Economy Zone Development Project, which is hosted by Daegu City and the Daegu Traditional Market Promotion Foundation.
The Alley Economy Zone Development Project is a support initiative aimed at discovering alley commercial areas with high growth potential, granting them differentiated competitiveness, and strengthening the self-sustainability of local business communities.
The recently selected Namsandong Musical Instrument Store Alley has been designated as the target area for the hardware (HW)-centered "Vitality Support Project," with a total project budget of 100 million KRW. This commercial district is Daegu's only musical instrument street, where instrument stores, music practice rooms, and the Daegu Music Creation Center are concentrated along Jungang-daero (from Myeongdeok Station to Nammun Market).
The project plans include installing symbolic sculptures for the musical instrument market to strengthen the brand, murals and public design to improve old stores, hosting an indie music festival, operating a used musical instrument market, and running mobile instrument classes, among other cultural and economic content activation projects.
Additionally, Samdeokdong 3-ga Alley has been selected as the target area for the software (SW)-centered "Recovery Support Project," with an investment of 50 million KRW. This area is popular among consumers in their 20s and 30s for its trendy cafes, select shops, and restaurants, and is also gaining attention as a photo spot on social media.
In Samdeokdong Alley, programs tailored to the unique characteristics of the area will be promoted, such as developing an alley brand (BI), creating commercial district maps linked with local resources like Magojae and Sincheon, discovering merchant stories and hosting collaborative events, and organizing joint discount-linked tours among stores.
Ryu Kyuha, Mayor of Jung-gu District in Daegu, stated, "We will continue to provide support so that small business owners, who are struggling due to the economic downturn, can enhance their competitiveness, secure self-sustainability, and grow into uniquely differentiated alley commercial districts that represent Jung-gu."
