View original imageGokseong County in Jeollanam-do (Governor Cho Sangrae) announced on the 22nd that it held the entrance ceremony for the 23rd Senior College on the 20th at the Gokseong County Social Welfare Center. Forty-seven new students attended the event, reaffirming the importance of lifelong learning and embarking on a new journey of education.
The Gokseong County Senior College will hold classes twice a month until November. Through various programs such as liberal arts, hobbies, health, leisure activities, and field trips, entrusted to professional educational institutions, it aims to provide academic and social opportunities for seniors.
Governor Cho Sangrae congratulated the attendees, stating, "Growing older does not mean moving away from learning, but rather broadening one's perspective on the world and reflecting on the meaning of life."
Ko Younggil, president of the Senior College, welcomed the students by saying, "People must continue learning until the end of their lives, and those who are passionate about learning never grow old."
Shim Jeongseop, president of the Senior Citizens' Association, encouraged the new students, saying, "I hope that through Senior College, people from each village will have meaningful and valuable educational experiences by meeting new people and exchanging knowledge and experiences."
Meanwhile, the county established the Senior College in 1997 and has since produced over 1,100 graduates. It plans to continue supporting seniors so that they can enjoy a 'happy old age through learning' in the future.
