Ulsan City Holds Ceremony for the 19th Ulsan Chemistry Day
Awards Presented to Contributors in the Chemical Industry at Lotte Hotel Ulsan on the 21st
Seminar Held to Overcome the Crisis in the Petrochemical Industry
On March 21 at 3 p.m., Ulsan City will hold the "19th Ulsan Chemistry Day Commemoration Ceremony" at Lotte Hotel Ulsan, with more than 100 attendees including Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom, City Council Chairman Lee Seongryong, officials from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Ulsan Technopark President Cho Youngshin, and representatives from the chemical industry.
The city holds this annual ceremony to honor contributors to the development of the chemical industry, enhance the pride of industry workers, and seek ways to raise awareness and foster growth in Ulsan's core industry, the chemical sector.
The event will proceed with an awards ceremony for distinguished contributors to the chemical industry, followed by a seminar on responding to crises in the petrochemical industry.
For the awards, three individuals including CM One CEO Jang Jongwon will receive the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award, while five others including Hoseong Vice President Song Geun will receive the Ulsan Mayor's Award.
Following the ceremony, a seminar will be held to address the emerging crisis in the petrochemical industry and discuss strategies for overcoming current challenges.
The seminar will feature lectures on "Ways to Enhance the Competitiveness of the Petrochemical Industry" by Choi Hongjun, Executive Director of the Korea Chemical Industry Council, and "The Direction of Ulsan's Petrochemical Industry" by Dr. Kim Ilhwan, former head of the Advanced Chemical Technology Support Division at Ulsan Technopark.
This seminar is expected to provide a forum for discussing the future direction of the petrochemical industry and strategies for overcoming its current crisis.
Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom stated, "Ulsan's chemical industry has been the core of the city's economy and the center of Korea's chemical sector," adding, "We must turn the recent crisis in the petrochemical industry into an opportunity for growth through innovation. The city will actively support the introduction of new technologies and do its utmost to build the necessary infrastructure so that companies can achieve stable innovation."
