Forestry successors, independent foresters, forestry corporations, and residents of Byeollyang-myeon who suffered from pine wilt disease also joined the tree planting efforts.
In addition, a wildfire prevention campaign was held alongside the event, urging citizens to help prevent forest fires during the dry season.
Meanwhile, the city is creating a new forest covering 94 hectares in Byeollyang-myeon and other areas to restore forests damaged by wildfires and other disasters.
A city official said, "We hope this event serves as an opportunity to reflect on the importance of forests in responding to the climate crisis and achieving carbon neutrality."
