Visiting Large-Scale Facilities and Discussing Business in South Africa
Ambassador Mnkuku: "Expansion of Renewable Energy in South Africa"
Daehan Electric Wire & Cable Co., Ltd. is targeting the African market, focusing on South Africa.
According to Daehan Electric Wire & Cable on the 20th, Sindiswa Mnkuku, the South Korean Ambassador to South Africa, and Tulani Nyembe, Political Counselor, visited Daehan Electric Wire & Cable's Dangjin cable factory the day before to discuss ways to expand business in South Africa. This meeting was held directly at the factory to enhance understanding of the cable production program and provide experience with large-scale production facilities. This was Ambassador Mnkuku's first visit to an individual company since her appointment in October last year.

View original imageAfter touring the factory, Ambassador Mnkuku discussed the direction of South Africa's power generation with Song Jong-min, Vice Chairman of Daehan Electric Wire & Cable. They also held consultations regarding the business status and support plans of M-TEC, Daehan Electric Wire & Cable's South African production subsidiary. M-TEC plans to expand its production capacity by adding medium and low voltage (MV/LV) cable production facilities in the first half of this year and complete facility expansion to enhance quality.
In addition, opinions were exchanged on projects conducted by Eskom, South Africa's state-owned power company, and the current status of ongoing business. Daehan Electric Wire & Cable also explained the training programs and professional personnel exchanges underway to improve the technical skills of local employees.
Ambassador Mnkuku said, "I am grateful that Daehan Electric Wire & Cable is contributing in various ways, including stabilizing local power supply and creating jobs. As renewable energy investments such as solar and offshore wind power are actively progressing in South Africa, I look forward to Daehan Electric Wire & Cable's active role."
Vice Chairman Song said, "Africa is rich in material and human resources, opening opportunities for business expansion. In particular, South Africa is a country we have focused on due to its high level of economic and educational infrastructure. We will strengthen M-TEC's competitiveness to increase sales within South Africa and expand exports to other African countries."

Meanwhile, M-TEC is a joint venture established in 2000 with investment from Daehan Electric Wire & Cable, producing and supplying various power and communication cables as a comprehensive cable company. Approximately 350 local employees work there.
