The Sacheon Foreign Worker Support Center, which will serve as a dedicated institution to systematically support foreign workers in the western region of Gyeongsangnam-do, has opened its doors.
Located on Musan-ro, Sacheon-eup, Sacheon-si, Gyeongnam, the Sacheon Foreign Worker Support Center held its opening ceremony on the 19th, attended by Park Dongsik, Mayor of Sacheon, Kim Gyuhun, Chairman of Sacheon City Council, and Cho Hyunjun, Director of Economic and Trade Affairs of Gyeongsangnam-do, and has officially begun operations.
The implementing organization for the Sacheon Foreign Worker Support Center is Korea Polytechnic University Aviation Campus, and the center provides support such as Korean language education, community cultural events, counseling on grievances, legal and visa issues, focusing on industrial sites in the western region of Gyeongsangnam-do.
In addition, the center helps foreign workers settle in the region through surveys on the status of foreign workers, information on participation in the seasonal worker system, support for country-specific communities, and network building.
In particular, the center will also carry out projects to help foreign workers maintain a stable life in Korea through exchanges with local residents and unity among foreigners, such as the Eoulrim Hanmadang (scheduled for the second half of the year), Korean Culture Exploration (scheduled for November), and Foreign Workers Rock Festival (scheduled for September).
The center operates from Sunday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and is closed on Fridays, Saturdays, and public holidays. The operation period is until December 31, 2026.
Mayor Park Dongsik said, "Our city plans to strengthen support for the stay of foreign workers in the region through various projects to substantially enhance their rights and interests, and we will do our best to increase the effectiveness of foreign worker support so that local companies can create new growth engines."
