Notably, Kim Jungsook, the wife of former President Moon Jaein, made a surprise visit to the event and received a warm welcome from attendees. Kim said, "This is a season when politics is causing the people much heartache, but visiting Damyang, it seems that candidate Lee Jaejong is nurturing a beautiful sprout to welcome the coming spring," adding, "I sincerely hope for the happiness of all Damyang residents."
The event was attended by over 1,000 supporters, including senior campaign chairpersons Joo Cheolhyeon and Lee Gaeho, lawmaker Jeon Jinsook (Gwangju Buk-gu-eul), and former Damyang County governor Choi Hyungsik.
Party leader Lee Jaemyung sent a congratulatory message, stating, "Lee Jaejong, an experienced and competent candidate, is ready to work for the future of Damyang," and added, "During these turbulent times, Damyang needs a leader who will serve the residents. I ask for your strong support for Lee Jaejong."
Campaign chairperson Lee Gaeho emphasized, "Lee Jaejong is a talent born and raised in Damyang, who built his skills and network at the Blue House. The victory of Damyang's son Lee Jaejong is a victory for the Democratic Party, and it will mark the beginning of a change in government led by the Democratic Party."
Campaign chairperson Joo Cheolhyeon said, "The budget for Damyang that Lee Jaejong is pursuing will be supported by the Democratic Party," and added, "The central party, Jeonnam provincial party, Jeonnam province, and Damyang will work as one team, with the determination that Damyang’s development is directly linked to the development of Jeonnam and South Korea."
Senior Supreme Council member Kim Minseok, Supreme Council member Jeon Hyunhee, and lawmakers Ko Minjeong, Kim Moonsu, Kim Woni, Moon Geumju, Park Sanghyuk, Park Suhyeon, Park Jiwan, Seo Youngkyo, Shin Junghoon, Yoon Geonyeong, and Lee Giheon also sent video congratulatory messages.
Candidate Lee said, "I am deeply grateful to Kim Jungsook and everyone who made the long journey in these difficult times," and added, "I will repay your great support with victory in the election and the development of Damyang."
Meanwhile, candidate Lee was born in Subuk-myeon, Damyang County, and has served as a Blue House administrator, Democratic Party central deputy spokesperson, chief spokesperson for Moon Jaein's presidential campaign in Gwangju, and head of policy media for the Democratic Party’s Gwangju city branch. Most recently, he was appointed as the chairperson of the Democratic Party’s Damyang County Tourism Industry Development Special Committee.
