According to the legal community on the 19th, Judge Ahn Hyun-jin of the Seoul Central District Court Civil Division 202 ruled last month in a lawsuit filed by former CEO Min against eight malicious commenters seeking approximately 24 million KRW in damages, ordering four of the commenters to pay Min between 50,000 and 100,000 KRW each in consolation damages.
The court stated, "The insults and contemptuous personal attacks against the plaintiff exceeded the limits of mere opinion expression," and judged them as "abstract judgments or expressions of contemptuous emotions that could lower the plaintiff's social evaluation." However, for the remaining four commenters, the court dismissed the claims, stating that "the insulting and contemptuous meanings were relatively mild and not excessively malicious."
