Samsung Welfare Foundation Dispatches 'Child Behavior Experts' to Nationwide Daycare Centers
Samsung Welfare Foundation announced on the 19th that it will actively expand its childcare program support project to respond to the changing childcare environment and contribute more practically to childcare centers nationwide.
This project aims to provide timely programs addressing child behavior problem prevention, respect for diversity, and mental health, in line with the expansion of public childcare and the advancement of childcare services. Through this, the foundation plans to lead the model for next-generation childcare projects.
In particular, Samsung Welfare Foundation has trained 18 "Child Behavior Specialists" to address maladaptive behavior issues among infants and toddlers occurring in childcare centers. These specialists observe and analyze maladaptive behaviors such as aggression, distractibility, and anxiety, which are difficult for childcare teachers to handle in group care settings, and provide customized guidance plans.
Trained in collaboration with Professor Juhee Park’s research team from Yonsei University’s Department of Child and Family Studies, the Child Behavior Specialists will be dispatched to childcare centers nationwide starting this April.
The Child Behavior Specialists analyze the individual characteristics and environments of children from multiple perspectives at childcare sites, offering tailored solutions to teachers and supporting the early prevention and resolution of behavioral problems in infants and toddlers.
Since last year, Samsung Welfare Foundation has been working with Professor Juhee Park’s research team at Yonsei University to design a training course tailored to the needs of the childcare field and to cultivate experts. This year, the foundation plans to select an additional 20 Child Behavior Specialists, who will undergo a nine-month professional training course, securing a total of 38 specialists by the end of the year.
Professor Juhee Park of Yonsei University said, "It is expected that Child Behavior Specialists will practically resolve teachers’ difficulties in daily childcare center life and effectively prevent social maladjustment and learning disabilities in infants and toddlers at an early stage."
