Korea Racing Authority to Train Future Farriery Experts... Recruiting Farriery Trainees This Year
Korea Racing Authority (Chairman Jeong Gi-hwan) is recruiting '2025 Farriery Trainees' from the general public to foster professional manpower in the horse industry, specifically farriers.
A 'farrier' is a person who makes horseshoes, which are essentially shoes for horses, and manages horse hooves.

View original imageWhile this occupation is already well-known overseas, the concept of 'farriery' itself has been unfamiliar and regarded as a rare profession in Korea. However, it has recently gained significant attention through various media, being described as a 'high-paying job' and a 'specialized technician with no retirement age.'
Additionally, farriers are considered essential personnel in the horse industry for the prevention and treatment of diseases.
Korea Racing Authority operates a farriery training program to impart professional skills to those interested in farriery. Any Korean citizen aged 17 or older can apply, even without prior experience in farriery. Farriers and veterinarians affiliated with Korea Racing Authority will conduct the training, which covers basic theory and practical skills in farriery.
Applications must be submitted by 6 p.m. on the 25th, either by mail or in person. Selected trainees will have the opportunity to complete the training free of charge at the Farriery Training Center (Horse Health Department) within Let's Run Park Seoul, starting from April 9. Enrollment in accident insurance is mandatory for safety, and Korea Racing Authority will provide all necessary safety gear and training materials for practical sessions.
For more details on the recruitment, please refer to the announcements on the Hospia horse industry information portal website.
