Gwangju Buk-gu Scholarship Foundation Achieves 8 Billion Won in Scholarship Fundraising
First Among Five Districts to Achieve Fundraising Goal

The Gwangju Buk-gu Scholarship Foundation, established by Buk-gu in Gwangju, has achieved a scholarship fundraising total of 8 billion won.
According to Buk-gu on the 19th, the foundation set its fundraising goal at 8 billion won since its establishment in 2007, securing resources through resident donations and district contributions. Over the past 18 years, donations from more than 56,000 local residents have raised a total of 8 billion won as of March this year, including 5 billion won from resident contributions and 3 billion won from district funds.
Among the five district scholarship foundations in Gwangju, Buk-gu is the first to reach its fundraising goal. On this day, Buk-gu held a board meeting of the foundation in the district office situation room to discuss the increase of basic assets and commemorative events. The district plans to continue supporting the cultivation of local talent and the realization of educational welfare through the foundation.
District Mayor Moon In said, "This achievement was made possible by the warmth of our residents over the past 18 years," and added, "We will continue to devote our efforts to discovering future talent."
Meanwhile, the Buk-gu Scholarship Foundation has awarded a total of 2.68 billion won in scholarships to 2,665 students to date. This year's scholarship applications will begin in October, with up to 2 million won available for university students and 700,000 won for high school students and out-of-school youth.
