[Briefing] Changwon Special Mayor Hong Nam-pyo Meets with Indian Ambassador to Korea Amit Kumar
On the 18th, Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam hosted a delegation including Amit Kumar, Ambassador of India to Korea, to discuss ways to strengthen friendly cooperation for the development of the defense industry between the two countries.

View original imagePrior to their visit to Changwon, the delegation visited STX Engine and GNT, leading defense SMEs from Changwon that participated in the 'Aero India' air show held in Bengaluru, India in February. There, they witnessed firsthand the latest core technologies of K-Defense.
Hong Nam-pyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, stated, "We are focusing on fostering the defense industry as a future growth engine based on the city's excellent infrastructure and extensive global network. Through various achievements, Changwon is solidifying its status as the undisputed mecca of K-Defense. Going forward, we expect to further strengthen mutual cooperation in production, trade, technology exchange, and networking for the development of the defense industry between our two countries. We also hope to build a solid and trustworthy partnership in other areas such as nuclear power, economy, and culture."
In response, Ambassador Amit Kumar expressed, "I deeply appreciate the hospitality of Changwon Special City. India, which is emerging as a global innovation hub, can become a very important partner not only in the defense sector but also in many other fields."
Ambassador Amit Kumar is a seasoned diplomat who has served as Consul General in Chicago and Deputy Chief of Mission at the Indian Embassy in the United States. Since his appointment as Ambassador to Korea in September 2022, this marks his second visit to Changwon. Since signing a mutual cooperation agreement for defense industry development in 2020, Changwon and India have continued to foster friendly exchanges and cooperation.
