Mokpo Coast Guard Conducts Joint Passenger Ship Safety Inspection
Focusing on Early Detection and Prevention of Accident Causes
Mokpo Maritime Police Station (Chief Kwon Oseong) announced on the 18th that a joint passenger ship safety inspection was conducted at the Namgang Passenger Terminal on Amtaedo, Shinan-gun, in cooperation with related organizations to prevent maritime accidents.

View original imageThis inspection, carried out jointly with Mokpo Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries and Korea Maritime Transportation Safety Authority (KOMSA), included the following: ▲Electric vehicle fire prevention inspection ▲Inspection of rescue facilities and safety equipment ▲Inspection and cleanliness check of engine room equipment ▲Operation check of navigation equipment in the wheelhouse ▲Promotion and education of key safety rules.
The maritime police plan to focus on closely cooperating with related organizations to identify and prevent causes of accidents in advance, as accidents on passenger ships and other multi-use vessels have a high potential to escalate into major incidents.
A Mokpo Maritime Police official stated, "We urge all passenger ship personnel to remain vigilant and thoroughly prepare for the prevention of maritime accidents," adding, "The maritime police will actively pay attention to ensure a sea where the public can feel safe."
