The meeting addressed the current situation of additional cases, quarantine management status, vaccination results, and discussed measures to prevent the further spread of foot-and-mouth disease.
On the 17th, three additional cases were reported in Yeongam. All occurred within the existing 3km quarantine zone, so the designated quarantine area remains unchanged.
Myeong Changhwan, Vice Governor for Administrative Affairs of Jeonnam Province, stated, "Although vaccination has been completed for all farms within the 10km high-risk area, the situation remains critical until antibodies are fully formed. Mobilize all available disinfection resources to thoroughly disinfect the quarantine zone twice a day and ensure strict quarantine measures at control posts."
He further emphasized, "Given the urgency, complete the vaccination swiftly, and strictly adhere to basic quarantine rules such as daily disinfection, clinical observation, and controlling access of people and vehicles to farms. In particular, assign dedicated officials to inform farms daily to report even minor suspicious symptoms, and mobilize all available resources from relevant agencies to focus on blocking the spread and achieving early stabilization of foot-and-mouth disease."
As of 1 p.m. on the 18th, a total of eight cases of foot-and-mouth disease have been reported: seven in Yeongam and one in Muan.
