According to the county on the 18th, quarantine measures have been strengthened as foot-and-mouth disease has recently been spreading in the Jeollanam-do region. Acting County Governor Jeong Gwangseon visited the main disinfection facility on the 17th to inspect the situation.
Since vaccination is the most important measure to prevent foot-and-mouth disease, the county has moved up the mass vaccination period originally scheduled for April and began vaccinations on the 15th, aiming to complete them by the 22nd.
Additionally, to block the horizontal transmission of foot-and-mouth disease, the livestock market has been temporarily closed. One-on-one dedicated public officials have been assigned to 69 full-time livestock farmers to encourage vaccination and check daily compliance with quarantine rules.
The county is also operating the main disinfection facility 24 hours a day to disinfect livestock vehicles, conducting disinfection of farms and related facilities through a joint quarantine team, and running a 24-hour foot-and-mouth disease quarantine countermeasures situation room to prevent further spread.
Acting County Governor Jeong Gwangseon urged, "To prevent the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease and minimize damage to farms, please do your utmost in quarantine by vaccinating, disinfecting farms at least twice a day, restricting farm access to outsiders, prohibiting gatherings and events of livestock farmers, and promptly reporting any suspicious symptoms."
