According to a Yonhap News report on the 18th, the 10 members of the Democratic Party's Gwangju City and District Council Hunger Strike Group plan to end their hunger strike after attending the "Gwangju Emergency Action Rally Urging Immediate Impeachment of Yoon Sukyeol" at 7 p.m. at Gwangju 5.18 Democracy Square.
Participants in the hunger strike included Gwangju City Council members Kim Nayoon and Myung Jin, Dong-gu Council member Moon Sunhwa, Seo-gu Council member Lim Sunghwa, Nam-gu Council member Oh Youngsoon, Buk-gu Council members Jung Dalseong and Hwang Yewon, and Gwangsan-gu Council members Kang Hansol and Yoon Youngil.
During the strike, when council members Kim Nayoon and Kim Myungsoo were hospitalized due to worsening pre-existing conditions, the Gwangju branch of the Democratic Party requested the striking members to end their hunger strike the previous day.
The participating council members, who had continued their hunger strike in tents despite the cold, reportedly agreed to accept the party's request as their health was rapidly deteriorating. However, they plan to continue activities calling for President Yoon's impeachment in other forms.
Meanwhile, Democratic Party lawmaker Min Hyungbae (Gwangju Gwangsan-eul) was also transferred to the hospital due to health deterioration after continuing his own hunger strike in a tent in Seoul for eight days.
