Seodaemun-gu Selected as Final Winner in Autonomous District Specialized Care SOS Contest Project
Strengthening Support for Vulnerable Groups During Extreme Heat and Cold Waves
Seodaemun-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Seongheon) announced on the 18th that it was finally selected in the ‘2025 Autonomous District Specialized Care SOS Service’ contest hosted by Seoul City to discover and provide customized care services reflecting regional characteristics.
Seodaemun-gu will promote a program called ‘Wellness Four Seasons Care’ targeting elderly and disabled single-person households vulnerable to extreme heat and cold, supported by project funds from Seoul City. During the heatwave period, alternative nutritional meals will be provided, and during the cold wave period, customized services such as boiler and fire safety inspections and exercise prescriptions will be offered.
In particular, instead of the ‘apply first, then decide’ method, selected recipients will be supported quickly and systematically in advance. Through this, the goal is to minimize care gaps and enable residents in need of support to access related services more rapidly.
The district plans to operate the ‘Care SOS project systematically in cooperation with local welfare institutions and related companies’ by signing agreements and building a care network to provide practical assistance to households requiring urgent care.
