Samsung AI Platform 'One UI 7' to Upgrade Older Galaxy Devices Starting April 7
Official One UI 7 Upgrade Begins April 7
Upgrade Available for Previous Galaxy S Series, Fold, Flip, and Tablets
More Personalized UI and Enhanced Galaxy AI Included
Samsung Electronics announced on the 18th that it will begin rolling out the integrated artificial intelligence (AI) platform update, One UI 7, starting April 7, for the 'Galaxy S24 series,' 'Galaxy Z Fold6·Z Flip6,' and other previously released major models.
The supported models include the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy S24 FE, Galaxy Z Fold·Flip6, Galaxy Tab S10 series, Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Z Fold·Flip5, and Galaxy Tab S9 series. More models will be updated in the future.
One UI 7 expands personalization options on the home screen, One UI widgets, apps, and the lock screen, allowing users to finely control all elements. In particular, the 'Now Bar' enables users to check their real-time activities directly from the lock screen. This allows users to see their current activity without unlocking the phone even while jogging, and to change the music they are listening to from the lock screen.
With One UI 7, users can also minimize the process of switching between multiple apps. 'AI Select' understands the context within the screen and provides appropriate recommendations such as translation, generative editing, and creating GIFs?animated images commonly called 'umjjal.' For example, when watching a video on the smartphone, clicking the 'AI Select' icon and choosing 'Create GIF' allows users to easily save the video they are watching as a GIF file.
'Writing Assist' gathers AI-based text-related functions such as text summarization and translation, spelling and grammar checks, and writing style adjustments in one place. Users can receive writing assistance easily and intuitively without switching apps.
