Half of US Citizens Say "Trump Sympathizes with Russia More Than Ukraine"
NBC Poll: 69% of Democrats and 19% of Republicans View Ukraine Positively
A significant portion of the American public believes that U.S. President Donald Trump is siding with Russia.
On the 17th (local time), NBC News in the United States released the results of a poll conducted from the 7th to the 11th, surveying 1,000 voters.
According to the poll, when asked "Which side does President Trump sympathize with more?" 49% answered "Russia." Only 8% chose Ukraine, and 40% responded "neither side."
On the other hand, when asked "Which side do you sympathize with more, Russia or Ukraine?" 61% of the total respondents chose "Ukraine." Only 2% answered Russia.
A representative from Hart Research, which conducted the poll, told NBC, "I cannot recall a time when public opinion and the public’s view of the president have clashed so sharply over which country they align with more."
Among all respondents, 46% and 41% viewed President Volodymyr Zelensky and Ukraine positively, respectively. In contrast, only 3% and 6% viewed President Vladimir Putin and Russia positively.
By political party, 69% of Democratic supporters evaluated Ukraine positively, while only 19% of Republicans viewed Ukraine positively.

Compared to NBC’s November 2023 survey, the positive evaluation among Democratic supporters increased slightly from 65% to 69%, and negative evaluations decreased from 12% to 8%, widening the gap between the two responses to 61%. Among Republicans, positive evaluations decreased (27%→19%) and negative evaluations increased (37%→46%), strengthening the negative sentiment.
