Providing Food and Beverages Worth 240,000 Won to Three Constituents
The Chungcheongnam-do Election Commission announced on the 17th that it had filed a complaint with the Gongju Branch of the Daejeon District Prosecutors' Office against current local council member A for allegedly providing food and beverages to constituents.
A is accused of gathering three constituents at a local restaurant in early February and providing food and beverages worth approximately 240,000 won.
According to the Public Official Election Act, candidates for local councils (including those intending to become candidates) are prohibited from making donations to constituents or to persons connected to constituents.
An official from the Chungnam Election Commission stated, "Donations to constituents constitute a serious election crime and are subject to strict measures," and added, "We will continue to respond strongly to similar illegal acts in the future through thorough investigations and by filing complaints."
