Jeonnam Office of Education Leads 'Righteous Education' with the Educational Community
Launching Ceremony of the '80th Anniversary of Liberation Education Promotion Team'
The Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education announced on the 17th that it held the launching ceremony for the ‘Jeonnam Ui (Righteousness) Education Promotion Team for the 80th Anniversary of Liberation’ at the Yeosu Expo Convention Center on the 15th, officially beginning activities to revitalize Ui (Righteousness) education in Jeonnam.
This promotion team was formed to establish Jeonnam Ui (Righteousness) education in schools and strengthen its practical implementation in celebration of the 80th anniversary of Liberation. Notably, the team includes not only students from the Jeonnam Student Council, but also parents, faculty, and local residents, with a total of 20 members from the Jeonnam education community, adding to its significance.

View original imageThe launching ceremony was held at the historic site of the Yeosu March 1st Independence Movement on the anniversary of the ‘March 15 Uprising’, making it a meaningful occasion to reflect on the values of peace, justice, human rights, and democracy. The event was attended by members of the promotion team and working committee, officials from related organizations and local community groups, Baek Dohyun, Superintendent of Yeosu Office of Education, Kim Yeoseon, Superintendent of Gwangyang Office of Education, the 7th Jeonnam Student Council leadership and executives, and a total of 55 participants.
Through the reading of the declaration, the promotion team pledged, “In celebration of the 80th anniversary of Liberation, we declare that Jeonnam education will take the lead in realizing the values of peace, justice, human rights, and democracy, and we will do our utmost to ensure that students learn respect and cooperation and grow as key members of a just and democratic society.”
Participants engaged in a performance to complete the Taegeukgi pattern with handprints, paid tribute at the Yeosu Independence Movement Memorial Tower, and took part in various events planned directly by the 7th Jeonnam Student Council student representatives.
Park Geonwoo, Chairperson of the 7th Jeonnam Student Council, stated, “I am honored to participate in this education promotion team,” and added, “I will do my best to successfully lead the academic and cultural festival of the Jeonnam education community for the 80th anniversary of Liberation in August, and widely promote the spirit of Jeonnam Ui (Righteousness).”
Moon Taehong, Director of Policy, said, “With the launching ceremony as a starting point, we will ensure that Jeonnam Ui (Righteousness) education is operated meaningfully in schools and local communities,” and added, “We will spare no effort to support Ui (Righteousness) education that practices knowledge and sharing through various programs commemorating the 80th anniversary of Liberation.”
