Recently, local governments in North Gyeongsang Province along the East Coast, including Yeongdeok County, have been strengthening their vigilance against illegal entry to enhance national security, as the APEC Summit will be held in Gyeongju at the end of this year.
However, there are concerns that each agency selects and manages vulnerable areas differently, highlighting the need for an integrated response. Additionally, the lack of objective management indicators for vulnerable areas has raised issues over the inadequacy of establishing an effective surveillance system.
County Governor Kim Kwangyeol stated, "Maritime illegal entry can pose a serious threat to national security and maritime safety. Therefore, we will closely cooperate with the military, coast guard, and other relevant agencies to thoroughly patrol vulnerable areas and systematically manage them by strengthening information sharing in the future."
