Changwon FC Narrowly Loses Home Opener ... Football Festival with Over 1,400 Fans
Gyeongnam Changwon FC faced Siheung Citizen Football Club in the home opener of the 2025 season, but unfortunately ended the match with a narrow defeat.
The match held at Changwon Football Center was attended by more than 1,400 passionate fans, including Hong Nam-pyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, Seong Bobin, member of the Changwon Special City Council, Kim Oyoung, President of the Gyeongsangnam-do Sports Council, and Baek Chanmun, President of the Gyeongsangnam-do Football Association, among others.
Changwon FC had hoped to carry the momentum from their 2-0 victory over FC Mokpo in the season opener on March 2, but could not overcome the defending champions, Siheung Citizen Football Club, and finished the match 1-2.
This home opener was filled with a variety of events for citizens. Starting with a pre-match performance by the Changwon United Taekwondo Demonstration Team and a special cheerleader performance, there were also a ceremonial kick-off, signed ball giveaways, and various prize events, providing an enjoyable time for the citizens.
Hong Nam-pyo, the owner of Changwon FC and Mayor of Changwon, said, "Although we could not reward everyone with a victory today, I sincerely thank all the citizens who came to the stadium and cheered passionately. I ask for your continued interest and support so that Changwon FC can learn from today’s defeat and grow into a stronger team."
Changwon FC will play against Namyangju Citizen Football Club in the second round of the 2025 Hana Bank Korea Cup at 2 p.m. on the 22nd of this month at Changwon Sports Complex, and will host their second home match against Ulsan Citizen Football Club at 2 p.m. on April 27 at the same venue.
Meanwhile, Changwon FC is further strengthening its fan-centered club management for the 2025 season. The club is preparing various programs both inside and outside the stadium so that fans can enjoy the matches even more, and plans to hold events to enhance communication with fans.
