View original imageAt the meeting, the results of the proposals and review items presented at the 1st meeting held on the 26th of last month and the significance of the Supreme Court's state compensation ruling related to women victims in the military base village were confirmed, focusing on the 'Agenda of Empathy.'
First, Lawyer Ha Joo-hee (Yullip Law Firm) introduced the background and key issues of the state compensation liability lawsuit under the agenda titled "The Meaning and Tasks of the State Compensation Ruling for Military Base Village Comfort Women." Next, Kim Jung-ae, co-representative of the Committee to Prevent Demolition, analyzed the content and significance of the UN recommendations and the problems with the Republic of Korea government's response letter under the agenda titled "The Meaning of UN Recommendations and Tasks Regarding the Letter of Allegations."
Finally, Kim Dae-yong, co-representative, proposed the scope of victims in the military base village, utilization plans for the returned US military base, and policy directions under the regional development agenda titled "The Necessity of Returning US Military Bases and Review of Regional Development Policies." Afterwards, there was a time to listen to various opinions and engage in discussions on the agenda items.
The proposals and consultation items derived from the 2nd Dialogue Council will be mutually reviewed and agreed upon through a working-level meeting.
