View original imageThe Jeonju International Film Festival announced on the 14th that it will hold a special exhibition dedicated to Korean film master Bae Chang-ho titled 'Between Popularity and Experimentation' this year.
This special exhibition highlights Bae Chang-ho's life, film philosophy, and inner world as he grappled with the balance between popularity and experimentation through his experimental and challenging works. A total of four films will be screened, including the documentary 'Bae Chang-ho's Close-Up' and three digitally restored works by director Bae.
Based on the novel of the same name by writer Park Wan-seo, 'That Winter Was Warm' (1984), which tells the story of two sisters who survived the Korean War; 'Hwang Jin-i' (1986), where director Bae first fully attempted an auteur style characterized by a low number of cuts and slow pacing, showcasing its experimental nature; and 'Dream' (1990), a representative work starring actors Ahn Sung-ki and Hwang Shin-hye, will be presented in 4K digital versions to audiences.
