Busan Chamber of Commerce Holds Expert Roundtable on Attracting Busan-Style Integrated Resort
Experts from Industry, Academia, Legal Circles, and Related Organizations Participate
Discussion on Introduction of Open Casinos, Site Review, and Investment
The Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Chairman Yang Jaesaeng) held an ‘Expert Roundtable for Attracting Busan-style Integrated Resorts’ at the Busan CCI meeting room on the 13th.
This roundtable brought together experts from industry, academia, the legal sector, and related organizations to review practical challenges for attracting a Busan-style integrated resort and to exchange focused opinions on feasible and actionable strategies.
During the meeting, the Busan CCI introduced the progress and key issues related to the Busan-style integrated resort initiative. Professor Lee Jaeseok of Gangneung-Wonju National University presented an analysis of overseas cases and implications for Busan under the theme ‘Latest Global Integrated Resort Development Trends and Applicability to Busan’.
In the subsequent discussion, Professor Yoon Taehwan of Dong-Eui University served as moderator, leading the debate around key topics such as the necessity of introducing integrated resorts, whether to allow open casinos, reviewing optimal locations, strategies for building public consensus, and the possibility and strategy for attracting global investment.
In his opening remarks, Yang Jaesaeng, Chairman of the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stated, “As the global tourism and MICE industry is rapidly reorganizing around integrated resorts, Busan, which aspires to be a global hub city, must also prepare quickly. We will work with experts to find ways to minimize the side effects of open casinos through appropriate regulations and maximize the economic added value that integrated resorts can bring.”

Based on the expert opinions discussed today, the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry plans to develop practical strategies and hold additional forums within the year to expand public consensus, thereby continuously promoting citywide discussions to attract integrated resorts.
