Suwon Gwanggyo Residents Demand "Withdraw GH and Shinbo Relocation Plans After Move-In Completion"
Residents of Gwanggyo New Town in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, urged the Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation (GH) and the Gyeonggi Credit Guarantee Foundation to withdraw their plans to relocate to northern Gyeonggi.
On the 13th, residents held a press conference at the Gyeonggi Provincial Council briefing room, demanding the withdrawal of the relocation plans of public institutions that have completed moving into Gyeonggi Convergence Town to northern Gyeonggi.

View original imageLee O-su (People Power Party, Suwon 9), a provincial assembly member who spoke at the event, said, "Is it common sense to relocate the Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation and the Gyeonggi Credit Guarantee Foundation again, after spending 365 billion won of taxpayers' money solely on constructing the new headquarters?" He pointed out, "This is not for the residents but driven by Governor Kim Dong-yeon's administrative convenience and political logic."
He continued, "Gyeonggi Province claims to promote the relocation of public institutions for regional balanced development, but it cannot be seen as a good policy worth enforcing despite residents' inconvenience and budget waste. It would be much more reasonable to establish a branch office in northern Gyeonggi and have it serve as the headquarters when the Northern Special Autonomous District is launched," he added.
