The late Park Chunsik was serving as a teacher at Yangsan Elementary School when he was killed in the “National Guidance League Massacre.” His wrongful death was revealed through the decision of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, and compensation was awarded following the court’s decision in 2024.
Park Hoonil, who attended the donation ceremony, said, “I thought donating the state compensation as a scholarship for the younger generation in my hometown would honor the wishes of the late Park Chunsik, who was a teacher. I hope this will be a small help in nurturing the talented individuals needed for Yangsan to grow into a greater city.”
Chairman Lee Heejong expressed his gratitude, saying, “We will cherish this donation and use it as a foundation to help students grow into outstanding local talents, ensuring the late Park Chunsik’s wishes are well conveyed.”
Park Hoonil, a native of Yangsan, is the CEO of Sunyoung Tech, a construction waste processing company producing recycled asphalt and aggregate at the Sanmak Industrial Complex. Since the foundation’s establishment in 2006, he has consistently donated scholarships, with the total amount reaching 60 million KRW.
