Gijang County in Busan, No. 1 'Gijang Green Onion' in Korea... Strengthening Position Through Agricultural Technology Education
The Only Geographical Indication-Registered Crop in Korea
Disseminating Key Cultivation Techniques
Gijang-gun (Governor Jung Jongbok) will hold a 'High-Quality Jjokpa Cultivation Technology Training' for local jjokpa (green onion) farmers at the Gijang-gun Agricultural Technology Center on the 18th.
Gijang Jjokpa has been recognized for its historical value, popularity, local identity, and geographical characteristics, and was officially registered as Geographical Indication No. 105 in March 2018. It is the only jjokpa product in Korea to have received this designation.
This training has been organized to help increase farmers' income and enhance the competitiveness of local agriculture by disseminating key cultivation techniques for jjokpa, a specialty crop of the region.
For the training, Shin Jaecheol, an agricultural researcher from the Seasoning Vegetable Research Institute of the Chungcheongnam-do Agricultural Research and Extension Services, who is an expert in jjokpa, has been invited. He will lecture on farming techniques for high-quality jjokpa production and provide various information including local government and agricultural policies.
For more information about the training, please contact the Agricultural Education Team at the Gijang-gun Agricultural Technology Center.
