Public Call for Resident Participatory Budget Proposals Open Until June 17
Gwangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Bang Se-hwan) announced on the 12th that it successfully held the ‘2025 Resident Participatory Budget School,’ marking the official start of the 2025 Resident Participatory Budget System.

View original imageThis budget school was conducted twice to enhance understanding of the resident participatory budget system and encourage active participation from citizens.
The first session was held on the 6th for 32 members of the 5th Resident Participatory Budget Committee, providing advanced training on the resident participatory budget system and the review procedures for proposed projects.
The second session took place on the same day for 100 Gwangju citizens, where participants learned the basic concepts of resident participatory budgeting and exemplary cases, and had the opportunity to strengthen practical skills through hands-on practice in proposal writing.
Mayor Bang Se-hwan stated, “It is meaningful to take the first step toward the 2025 resident participatory budget system,” and added, “I hope this budget school served as an opportunity for citizens and the Resident Participatory Budget Committee to deepen their understanding of the system and develop the capacity to participate more actively.”

Meanwhile, the city plans to solicit proposed projects for the resident participatory budget for 100 days until June 17. The submitted proposals will be reviewed by the relevant departments, local councils, and the Resident Participatory Budget Committee before being reflected in the 2026 budget plan.
