"Public Safety First"... Uljin County Conducts Steep Slope Safety Inspections
Uljin County in North Gyeongsang Province will conduct safety inspections on 230 steep slopes registered in the National Disaster Management System (NDMS) over a three-month period from March to May.
With this round of steep slope safety inspections, Uljin County plans to register and manage the inspection results and follow-up measures in the system to reduce risk factors.
Steep slopes can lead to large-scale casualties due to falling rocks or collapses, so safety inspections are being promoted to preemptively block risk factors and prevent loss of life and property damage.
The main inspection items include checking for abnormalities in slope facilities such as drainage, reinforcement, and protective structures, inspecting for cracks or bulging in retaining walls, and focusing on the possibility of falling rocks or collapse.
Minor issues will be addressed immediately on site, while cases where it is difficult to identify the degree of risk or where risk is high will undergo a detailed safety diagnosis to eliminate risk factors through repairs or reinforcement.
