KAIST had 13 successful candidates, Sungkyunkwan University 9, Police University and Ewha Womans University each 6, Chung-Ang University 4, Sogang University and Hanyang University each 3, and Kyung Hee University and Chonnam National University each 2. The number of KAIST successful candidates increased 2.6 times from 5 last year to 13 this year.
By university, among the 156 successful candidates at Seoul National University Law School, 66.7% were from Seoul National University, 12.2% from Yonsei University, and 9.6% from Korea University. SKY graduates accounted for 88.5% of the total successful candidates. There were 7 successful candidates from KAIST.
At Yonsei University Law School, 90.5% of the 126 successful candidates were from SKY, and at Korea University Law School, 79.3% of the 121 successful candidates were from SKY. The proportion of female successful candidates was 39.0%, falling below the 40% mark and recording the lowest in the past five years. It was 44.2% in 2021, 44.6% in 2022, 46.5% in 2023, and 46.3% in 2024.
The average age of successful candidates was 25.2 years at Yonsei University and 26.2 years at Korea University. Compared to the previous year, this increased by 0.4 years and 0.3 years respectively. Seoul National University did not disclose the ages of its successful candidates.
The number of successful candidates aged 30 or older was 5 at Yonsei University and 12 at Korea University. Although the number of successful candidates aged 30 or older is small, the increase nearly doubled from 9 to 17.
Lim Seong-ho, CEO of Jongno Academy, stated that the rise in the average age of law school successful candidates appears to be due to employment difficulties caused by the economic downturn and a preference for professional careers. He added, "Most successful candidates came from top-tier departments such as economics and business administration," and explained, "The trend of increasing successful candidate age seems to coincide with the preference for medical schools seen in the natural sciences."
