View original imageJeollanam-do will implement a fire prevention supply project targeting vulnerable groups living in apartments over 20 years old.
This project has been prepared to strengthen initial fire response capabilities and prevent casualties caused by fires.
Support will be provided to households of the elderly and disabled who have difficulty using powder-type fire extinguishers, as well as residents of apartments that received building permits before May 2004 and do not have sprinklers installed.
A total of 6,250 vulnerable households?including basic livelihood security recipients, severely disabled individuals, single-parent families, elderly living alone, multicultural families, and low-income families?will be supplied with spray-type fire extinguishers and standalone alarm-type detectors (smoke detectors).
In particular, to ensure that vulnerable households do not have difficulty operating the devices, instructions on how to use them will be provided. Depending on the field situation in each city and county, if the demand for old apartments exceeds the project supply, the project will be expanded to include houses as well.
Park Namil, head of the Social Disaster Division of Jeollanam-do, said, "Through this project, we will do our best to enhance the fire response capabilities of vulnerable groups in the province and create a fire-safe environment in the region."
Jeollanam-do plans to continue pursuing fire prevention policies for vulnerable groups in a more systematic manner, and will focus on strengthening various promotional and educational activities to raise residents' voluntary fire prevention awareness and build a practical safety net.
