Suwon City, 84,894 Tons of Food Waste Last Year... 4,750 Tons Decrease Compared to Previous Year
The amount of food waste generated in Suwon City, Gyeonggi Province last year was 84,894 tons, showing a decrease of 4,750 tons compared to the previous year.
On the 11th, Suwon City held the '2024 Food Waste Generation Reduction Performance Evaluation Committee' at the city hall video conference room and announced that food waste generated from households (including small restaurants) last year was 73,033 tons, down 2,542 tons from the previous year, and large-scale waste generators produced 11,861 tons, a decrease of 2,208 tons from the previous year.

A Suwon City official stated, "There are limits to reducing food waste through administrative efforts alone," and added, "If small actions such as purchasing only the necessary amount of food and eating without leaving leftovers accumulate, they can create significant change."
