Siheung-si Launches 'Drone Delivery Service' Pilot Project at Baegot Hanul Park
Business Agreement Signed with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport
for the 'Drone Pilot City Establishment Project'
Siheung City in Gyeonggi Province is promoting a drone delivery pilot project at 'Baegot Hanul Park' in Baegot New Town.
On the 12th, Siheung City announced that on the 11th, it signed a business agreement related to the '2025 Drone Pilot City Establishment Project' with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport at the Best Western Plus in Sejong City. This project, led by the Ministry and carried out by the Aviation Safety Technology Institute, aims to discover drone utilization models tailored to regional characteristics such as delivery, leisure, and administration, and apply them to public services. The agreement ceremony was attended by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Aviation Safety Technology Institute, the Korea Transportation Safety Authority, Siheung City, and 17 other local governments.

View original imageAccording to the business agreement, the city plans to pilot an urban park drone delivery service centered around Baegot Hanul Park. The project will receive 500 million KRW in national funding. In particular, the city intends to install delivery points in crowded areas within the park, such as the seawater pool, to pilot goods drone delivery services and enhance convenience for visitors.
Park Seung-sam, Deputy Mayor of Siheung City, said, "By successfully carrying out this delivery project, we will establish a foundation for the commercialization of drone technology and related industries, and leap forward as a future advanced city."

Meanwhile, the city has built an industry-academia-research-government cooperation network related to the drone industry with the offices of National Assembly members, Seoul National University Siheung Campus, Korea Unmanned Mobility Research Association, and Korea Transportation Safety Authority Siheung Drone Education Center.
