The Korea Employers Federation's 'Comprehensive Response Center for Serious Accidents' announced on the 12th that it has published a safety management guidebook to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) struggling to comply with the Serious Accident Punishment Act (SAP Act) and establish safety and health management systems.
The SME Safety Management Guidebook contains the core mandatory obligations that companies must have or implement to build a safety management system, based on the Industrial Safety and Health Act (ISHA) and the SAP Act regulations.
The main chapters include ▲Organization and System ▲Safety and Health Education ▲Risk Assessment ▲Three Major Accident Prevention Rules ▲Procedures After an Accident. It is characterized by clearly organizing essential checklist items for each major obligation so that SMEs can effectively carry out safety management activities.
Additionally, the guidebook includes explanations and checklist items to help SMEs easily understand and apply the obligations under the SAP Act, and also introduces major court precedents (guilty and not guilty) related to the SAP Act.
Im Woo-taek, head of the Korea Employers Federation's Comprehensive Response Center for Serious Accidents, stated, "To enhance the safety capabilities of small businesses, it is necessary to distribute various safety management manuals that consider the characteristics of industries and workplaces in the industrial field." He added, "We plan to actively promote various prevention projects to support the safety activities of SMEs in the future."
