Pastor Lee Young-hoon, the senior pastor of Yoido Full Gospel Church, spoke out about the December 3 emergency martial law and the impeachment political situation. On the 11th, Pastor Lee held a press conference at the Four Seasons Hotel in Gwanghwamun, Seoul, stating, "The influence of shamanism in the political sphere is very serious," and added, "It is time for the Christian community to engage in a spiritual battle against shamanistic beliefs." He also criticized religious figures involved in politics who take hardline stances, saying, "The Bible advises not to lean to the left or right. We must be cautious about going to extremes."

View original imageRegarding suspicions that former Commander of the Armed Forces Intelligence, Noh Sang-won, was deeply involved in shamanism, Pastor Lee said, "It is deeply regrettable (from a Christian perspective) that one of the key figures in the December 3 emergency martial law was a shaman," and added, "When one falls into shamanistic beliefs, they tend to ignore reality. The church must continue to warn against this." Former Commander Noh is currently on trial, having been detained and indicted on charges related to planning the December 3 emergency martial law.
On the political confrontation and division surrounding the December 3 emergency martial law incident and President Yoon Suk-yeol's impeachment trial, Pastor Lee diagnosed, "National unity is our greatest task and the path to resolving these issues." He said, "The national disease of our country is what is called 'division into factions.' Regardless of changes in administration or other circumstances, the challenge is how to unify this polarized society. It would be good if the Christian community and religious groups could unite with one heart to play a role in solving this task."

Regarding some who seem to deny the Constitutional Court's impeachment trial results even before they are announced, he emphasized, "Our country is based on the rule of law," and added, "No matter what decision is made, as the saying goes, 'Even bad laws are laws,' we must respect the decisions of the law." Furthermore, he added, "There is an urgent need for national and social efforts to address the low birthrate problem, and special measures are necessary to block the rapidly spreading drug issue."
