Chang Jaehyuk, Vice Governor of Hapcheon, Conducts On-Site Inspection of Disaster Prevention Projects During Thawing Season
Stormwater Runoff Reduction Facilities, Steep Slope Collapse Risk Zones, and More
Hapcheon County in Gyeongnam announced on the 12th that it conducted an emergency inspection of disaster prevention sites in response to the thawing season and discussed field-oriented countermeasures to establish practical safety measures.
This inspection was carried out in consideration of the increased risk of accidents due to ground weakening and structural deformation, which are characteristic of the thawing season. The county checked the safety conditions of major disaster prevention sites such as the Flood and Storm Damage Living Zone Improvement Project, stormwater runoff reduction facilities, and steep slope collapse risk areas, and implemented preemptive measures.

In addition, through conversations with those involved on site, he discussed areas in need of improvement and instructed the implementation of practical solutions.
Deputy County Governor Jang stated, "The thawing season is a time when the ground that was frozen throughout the winter melts, increasing the risk of unexpected ground subsidence or facility collapse," and emphasized, "Safety can never be overemphasized. Each site must establish thorough safety measures and conduct meticulous management for preemptive response."
He added, "Beyond simple inspections, continuous management and supplementation to address fundamental issues are important," and said, "We will strengthen a prevention-oriented safety management system to protect the lives and property of our residents."
Meanwhile, Hapcheon County plans to immediately implement follow-up measures for the safety vulnerabilities identified during this inspection and expand continuous monitoring and detailed inspections to prevent safety accidents during the thawing season.
