Wando-gun Wins 'Outstanding Eup-Myeon-Dong Evaluation' Award for 6 Consecutive Years
Wando-gun in Jeollanam-do announced on the 11th that it has been awarded the Grand Prize for six consecutive years in the "2024 Outstanding On-site Administration Evaluation for Eup, Myeon, and Dong," organized by Jeollanam-do.
The "Outstanding On-site Administration Evaluation for Eup, Myeon, and Dong" is an assessment conducted since 2016 targeting 297 eup, myeon, and dong in Jeollanam-do, aiming to address administrative blind spots in areas such as cultural heritage, tourism facilities, welfare, and living environment. The evaluation is carried out in two stages: the first is a document review submitted by each city and county, and the second is a presentation of best practices, through which the final selections are made.

Wando-eup collaborated with the Gwangju-Jeonnam branch of LH to support the move-in of vulnerable residents living in small rooms or inns into rental housing (Wando LH Apartments). To this end, they provided moving expenses and rental deposits, contributing to housing stability.
In addition, for residents facing eviction due to complaints about foul odors, Wando-eup worked with volunteer organizations to improve the living environment. Furthermore, efforts in post-support, such as connecting beneficiaries to job programs to enable economic activities, were also positively evaluated. As a result, recipients were able to maintain stable livelihoods, and some residents even sent letters of gratitude and donated a portion of their income, creating heartwarming stories.
With this award, Wando-gun has achieved the remarkable feat of winning for six consecutive years, following Gogeum-myeon (Encouragement Award) in 2019, Geumil-eup (Excellence Award) in 2020, Wando-eup (Excellence Award) in 2021, Gogeum-myeon (Excellence Award) in 2022, and Geumil-eup (Grand Prize) in 2023.
Shin Woochul, the Mayor of Wando-gun, stated, "Receiving such positive evaluations for six consecutive years is thanks to the dedication of the eup and myeon office staff who have been actively working on the front lines," and added, "We will continue to actively pursue on-site administration that residents can truly feel."
