Gyeonggi-do, First Metropolitan Area to Conduct Survey on Self-Reliance Desires of Home-Based Severely Disabled
Gyeonggi Province is the first metropolitan local government to conduct a survey on the independence needs of people with severe disabilities.
Gyeonggi Province announced on the 11th that from this month until November, it will conduct a survey on the independence needs of 1,000 people with severe disabilities living at home in 31 cities and counties within the province.
People with severe disabilities living at home refer to those who do not reside in hospitals or facilities but mainly live at home while using necessary services.
Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Welfare Foundation will secure the survey list from cities and counties starting on the 17th, and conduct the survey and prepare the report from May to November.
Based on the survey results, Gyeonggi Province plans to establish the "Gyeonggi Province Disabled Persons Independent Living Support Plan" to support independent living for people with disabilities.
Kim Hana, Director of the Welfare Bureau of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "Through this survey, we will identify the independence needs of people with disabilities living at home in addition to those of facility residents previously identified, and strengthen the creation of an environment where they can live independently and stably in the community."
